Synopsis
Based on the book O Brasil dos gringos, by Tunico Amâncio, this documentary explores the vision that world cinema has of Brazil, through the films in which the country was a location, a theme or a reference. Using interviews with directors and screenwriters, the documentary reveals the mechanisms that produce popular images of Brazil, exploring the underlying stories, motivations and pressures behind the celluloid Brazil.
Director
After cutting her teeth at the main TV stations and newspapers of Brazil, by the early '80s Lúcia Murat got involved with independent cinema productions and founded Taiga Filmes. She is now known in Brazilian and international festivals for her award winning feature films: How nice to see you alive, Oswaldianas, Sweet Power, Brave New Land and Almost Brothers. Her latest film is Maré, our Love Story.
