At a casual rendezvous, Lourenço is forced to use a currency that he has put aside for a long time: affection. While pestered by a foul odor coming from his shop's drain, Lourenço is confronted by the same clients he believed he controlled. Director Heitor Dhalia directed Conceição in 1997, a short film distinguished at important film festivals. Following this, he was an assistant director for Aluízio Abranches in A Glass of Rage, and scriptwriter for The Three Marias, also directed by Aluízio. In 2004 he directed his first feature, Nina.
