A romantic comedy wrapped up in Tom Jobim's unforgettable Bossa Nova standards. In the idyllic Rio landscape, nine characters cross each other's paths, interweaving stories of finding and losing love in Rio, a city where life has a special rhythm all of its own. At the epicentre of these stories is Mary Ann Simpson, an attractive former flight attendant who has been living in Rio and working as an English teacher since the death of her husband two years ago, who meets Pedro Paulo, a charming and handsome lawyer who is coming out of a seven-year marriage when his wife leaves him for a Chinese Tai-Chi teacher.
